Sports Update For Tuesday, October 1st, 2019; Two South Carolina Football Players Named SeC Players of the Week

(Seneca, SC)—The SEC has announced that South Carolina Defensive End D.J. Wonnum has been named the conferences Defensive Player of the Week.

Wonnum was credited with five total tackles, which included three sacks and a forced fumble in the Gamecocks 24-7 win this past Saturday night against Kentucky.

Also, Gamecock Punter Joseph Charlton was named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Charlton averaged 51.2 yards per punt against Kentucky.

The SEC has announced that the kickoff time has been set for next Saturday’s game between South Carolina and # 3 Georgia at Sanford Stadium in Athens.

The kickoff time has been set for Noon and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.

You can also listen to the game on 94.1 The Lake along the network lines of the Gamecock Radio Network. Airtime will be 11am next Saturday.

The ACC announced yesterday that Clemson Wide Receiver Tee Higgins has been named the conference’s Receiver of the Week.

Higgins caught six passes, including the game winner in the Tigers 21-20 win against North Carolina this past Saturday, for 129 yards.

The ACC has also announced that it has placed a six day hold on October 12th’s game in Death Valley between Florida State and #2 Clemson.

The game will be broadcast on ABC at either 3:30pm or 7:30pm and the game time and designation will be decided after this weekend’s game.
