Sports Update For Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019; Clemson And South Carolina Lose In Respective Conference Baseball Tournaments

(Seneca, SC)————-The Clemson Tigers lost in extra innings Tuesday to Boston College in the opening game of the ACC Baseball Tournament by a score of 7-5 in 11 innings as BC scored two runs in the top of the 11th to break a 5-5 tie. Clemson will face Atlantic Division Champion and the #1 overall seed Louisville Thursday in Durham at 11am. 

South Carolina lost to LSU Tuesday night in their opening game of the SEC Baseball Tournament by a score of 8-6. The Tigers scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-5 lead, a lead that they would not relinquish. The Gamecocks season comes to the end with a 28-28 record. 

South Carolina women’s tennis coach Kevin Epley was recently named the National Women’s ITA/Wilson Coach of the Year while senior Ingrid Martins was named the National Women’s Senior Player of the Year. The South Carolina women’s tennis team wrapped up their season last Friday with a loss to Duke in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Women’s Tennis Tournament. 

Seven South Carolina Track and Field student athletes were honored recently as All-SEC Track and Field Selections. The list was headed by Quincy Hall, who was named first team All-SEC after winning the men’s 400 meters at the recently held SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Hall will be participating in the upcoming 2019 NCAA East Preliminary Round in Jacksonville later on this week.
