Sports Update For Wednesday, May 29th, 2019; South Carolina Guard A.J. Lawson Withdrawing From NBA Draft

(Seneca, SC)———–South Carolina rising sophomore guard A.J. Lawson announced via his Twitter account that he is withdrawing from the NBA draft and will be returning to the South Carolina Basketball team. 

Lawson averaged over 13 points a game last season and was named to the All-SEC Freshman team. 

The South Carolina women’s basketball team will be one of eight teams that will compete in the 2019 Paradise Jam next season. The Gamecocks will play in the Reef Tournament against Indiana, Washington State and the defending National Champion Baylor from November 28th – 30th in St. Thomas. 

It will be South Carolina’s fourth trip to the Paradise Jam. 

The South Carolina women’s basketball team has announced that guard Destiny Littlejohn has signed a financial aid agreement and has transferred from Texas. The California native and former McDonald’s All-American will have two years of eligibility to play with the Gamecocks. 

Current Clemson Assistant Women’s Golf Coach Heather Young will begin play in the U.S. Women’s Open Thursday. The tournament is being held at the Country Club of Charleston. 

Young will be making her second appearance in the US Women’s Open, with her first appearance coming in 2012. Young qualified for the tournament after competing in a sectional qualifier in Greensboro, NC.
