Still Time to register to decorate an Egg for Local Non-profit

Duke Energy’s World of Energy at Oconee Nuclear Station is hosting its annual “Festival of Eggs,” an event parallel to the World of Energy’s popular Festival of Trees. Representatives from local non-profits will decorate eggs in unique, artistic ways for the festival that runs March 26, through April 6. Additionally, a spring celebration and egg hunt at the World of Energy is scheduled from 10am until noon on Saturday, March 31. The event, which includes games and entertainment, is free to the public. The eggs; large, 16-inch blue and green, plastic, plain and undecorated, can be adopted and decorated at home. And, just like the Festival of Trees, visitors to the World of Energy can cast their ballot for their favorite egg. Three eggs that receive the most votes will receive $500, $400 and $300 for the non-profit organization of choice. “This is the second Festival of Eggs; we had great success with our first event in 2017. People are incredibly creative with their designs,” said Chris Rimel, S.C. nuclear communications manager. “We hope to see even more creativity this year.” If you would like to register to decorate an egg, call 864-873-4600 or email [email protected]. Eggs are available for pick up now and must be returned for the free, public display on March 23.
