Student Enrollment in SDOC

The word consistent maybe the best to use when discussing enrollment in the School District of Oconee County.  According to his blog, Oconee County Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Lucas says enrollment has been pretty consistent between 9,000 and 10,000 students during the past forty or so years. Districts receive some of the state funding under the Education Finance Act based on Average Daily Membership.  This data is collected on the 45th and 135th days of school by the South Carolina Department of Education.  The numbers include only students in K-12.  Students in 4K and those in 3-year-old programs and special education are not included in these counts.  The School District of Oconee County currently serves approximately 220 students in the 4K program and a little over 80 students who are 3-4 years-old.  Current enrollment in the School District of Oconee County is 10,532 students, with all kids in the system, ages 3-21.
