Study Tips during the Holidays

Concentrating on work around the holidays is difficult, but for school children it can be impossible.  The weeks leading up to the holiday break from school are crucial for students, as many will be taking exams.  Seneca High School guidance director Karen Trammell offers this advice.  “Students tend to get distracted with all the activities going on around the holidays but we do have exams before Christmas.  I think students, teachers and parents like having exams before Christmas that way they can enjoy the holidays.  We do have exams coming up, they start on Friday, December 14 and conclude on Wednesday, December 19, which is a half day for students.” Start helping students prepare now for those exams, adds Trammell.  “Our advice would be to start now, we are a couple of weeks away but don’t wait until the night before to try to cram for an exam that covers a semester’s worth of material.  Definitely eat well the night before and get a good night’s sleep.  Follow the exam reviews that all of our teachers will be reviewing in class and sending home reviews.  Start reviewing now, a little bite along the way.” To view your child’s exam schedule visit the School District of Oconee County’s website at www.oconee.k12.sc.us and click on your child’s school.
