Summer Meal Program feeds Hundreds of OC Children

This summer, the Oconee County Public Library joined with the School District of Oconee County’s Food Services Department to feed kids for free. Three county library branches served free summer meals to hundreds of children on weekdays from June 7 through July 29 with the exception of the 4th of July. Children 18 years and under received a free nutritious lunch. There were no income requirements or registration. The meals were provided in conjunction with the national Summer Food Service Program. Bag lunches were provided at the Westminster Library and the Seneca Library while hot meals were provided at the Walhalla Library from the Food Services Department of the School District of Oconee County.
