Suspicious Structure Fire under investigation in Westminster

A suspicious fire is under investigation in Westminster. Sunday night around 7:30pm, Oconee County firefighters in the southern end of the county were alerted to a reported home on fire along Marrett Road. Oconee County Fire Chief Charlie King reports that crews arrived on scene within seven minutes to find the vacant single wide mobile home well involved in fire. Crews from four area stations worked for 25 minutes to bring the blaze under control. Crews remained on scene until just after 10pm extinguishing hot spots and investigating the cause of the fire. The home was vacant at the time and had no power or other utilities. There were no injuries reported. The following agencies operated at the scene: Oakway Fire Department, South Union Fire Department, Fair Play Fire Department, Cross Roads Fire Department, Oakway Rescue Squad and Oconee County Fire Investigations Team. With the home not being occupied and no utilities connected at the time of the fire, the Oconee County Fire Investigations Team has not ruled out that the fire could have been started intentionally.
