Taking a Hike against Cancer

Oconee County Emergency Services Deputy Chief of Emergency Management and Special Operations Scott Krein also serves as a volunteer with Cure Search Ultimate Hike. Recently, he made the decision to try a different kind of involvement, by hiking 28.3 miles on Saturday, April 28, to raise funds for the 43 children that are diagnosed with cancer everyday. Chief Krein’s father recently died as a result of complications from cancer. That is in addition to his mother-in-law who died of Leukemia as well as several immediate family members who have survived cancer and friends that have been impacted by this terrible disease.
