Tank coming to Seneca

A six-year project comes to fruition on Tuesday in Seneca.  A tank used in the Vietnam War and the Desert Storm War is coming to the Charles McGee Byrd Post #120 of the American Legion, explains District 13 Regional Commander Carlton Patterson.  “Our M60 Tank is coming between 11am and noon.  We have been working on this for the last six years.  Charlie Brickett has been heading it up and has done a fine job.  We hope we have a good crowd turn out to see the tank as we mount it on the pad and everything.  Once we get it, we are going to need a lot of help to repair the tank, some work needs to be done on it, but we are all excited about it.” Commander Patterson invites the community to help the American Legion pay for the tank.  “It costs us about $3,500 to get it here and if you want to help pay the expense of getting it here, we will be happy to except a donation.  The American Legion is a non-profit organization and we give back to the community everything that we collect monetarily.  We support Little League teams, Boys State, Law Cadet and so fourth.  So this is a great opportunity and we invite everybody to come by and look at it.” The Charles McGee Byrd Post #120 of the American Legion is located at 575 North Fair Play Street in Seneca.  The American Legion is dedicated to honoring American Veterans of all wars, the flag, and serving the community.
