TCTC names Learning Center at Oconee Campus after Sen. Alexander

In gratitude for securing funding for the construction of a new 37,000-square-foot campus in the Oconee Industry and Technology Park, Tri-County Technical College (TCTC) named the new learning center after State Senator Thomas Alexander. TCTC President Dr. Ronnie Booth made the announcement during Friday morning’s dedication ceremony and credited Senator Alexander for assuring that the last amount of funding, believed to be $3 million, was provided over a governor’s veto. “The Senator Thomas C. Alexander Learning Commons is named in grateful recognition of Senator Alexander for his enduring support and tireless efforts to secure for the Oconee Campus of TCTC. His ongoing leadership and steadfast commitment to this effort were inspiration to all and key to our fiscally making the dream of an Oconee Campus a reality for the citizens of Oconee County. Dedicated Aug. 17, 2018, on the occasion of a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the Oconee Campus of TCTC.” Senator Alexander was surprised by the honor. Dr. Booth praised both Representative Bill Sandifer and Representative Bill Whitmire for their efforts, but he singled out Senator Alexander because he actually called to ask if the project needed more money and it did.
