Team SC transitioning to Normal after Michael

With the need for immediate disaster response resources subsiding across the state, agencies are beginning the transition to normal, daily operations, reports the South Carolina Emergency Management Division. Tropical Storm Michael has moved out of the state, ending the threat of tornadoes and diminishing the threat of flooding. The State Emergency Operations Center will remain partially activated to support county emergency managers as requested. The South Carolina Department of Transportation reports that 2,000 employees worked during the storm to clear an estimated 500 trees in roadways statewide. There are a small number of roads with minor flooding. Drivers should not attempt to travel through flooded roadways. Approximately 92,000 power outages were reported statewide. The Department of Social Services and The American Red Cross are operating 9 shelters with 97 occupants.
