The City Of Seneca Events Committee Discusses Animals At City Events Issue At Wednesday Morning Meeting

(Seneca, SC)—————Wednesday morning, the City of Seneca Events Committee met to discuss the issue of animals at city events and after a discussion among the members of that committee, a motion was made and passed that authorized Seneca City Administrator Scott Moulder to draft a temporary ordinance, with the assistance from the City Attorney, that would bar animals from the Jazz on the Alley event only. The temporary ordinance would be approved after two readings by Seneca City Council. Then in the future, the temporary ordinance would be revisited later on as the possibility of expanding the Jazz event further up Main Street might come to fruition.

Moulder said that this was a temporary ordinance until the city can look at the long term impact. Moulder said that they may put a sunset date on the ordinance that requires council and the Mayor to look at the ordinance again and the ordinance in of itself may be a separate ordinance.

Moulder said that the protection of the animals and those attending the events is the biggest concern.
