Third Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Now through Saturday, Oct. 19-21, the Westminster branch of the Oconee County Public Library (OCPL) is accepting entries into their third annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Everyone is invited to dress up a pumpkin as their favorite literary character or use pumpkins to depict their favorite book, tells OCPL Director Blair Hinson. “It is important to note this is not a jack-o-lantern contest, and carved pumpkins will not be accepted. Those interested in participating may pick up a registration form and contest rules at the Westminster Library. The public is invited to cast their votes on their favorite pumpkin at the Westminster Library from Oct. 23-30. Pictures of the pumpkins will be posted to the OCPL Facebook and Instagram accounts as well. Likes from these accounts will be added to in-house voting to select the fan favorite. The winner of fan favorite will receive a $10 gift card. A judging panel will also review all of the decorated pumpkin entries to select the judges’ pick, who will receive a $20 gift card. The winners will be announced on Oct. 31.” For more information about the Third Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest, visit the Westminster Library or www.oconeelibrary.org.
