Three Accidents Today in Oconee County

There were at least three serious traffic accidents today in the area that are under investigation by authorities. This morning on Deer Knoll Road just off Hwy 59 in southern Oconee County a deputy’s SUV hit a tree, apparently after pursuing a suspect, who is now in custody. The deputy was taken by Prisma Health EMS to Oconee Memorial for treatment of unspecified injuries. State troopers also investigated a noon hour pedestrian accident on Dr. John’s Road near Westminster, and we’ve received reports of a motorcycle and truck involved in a collision on Hwy 59 near Houston Rice Road. Initial information indicated that accident may have been fatal. We’ll bring more details about these accidents as they become available.
