Three killed on SC Highways over Weekend

Three people were killed on South Carolina highways over the weekend.  The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces three people were killed on state roads and highways from Friday, February 8, at 6pm until Sunday, February 10, at midnight. As of February 10, 59 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 91 highway deaths in this same time period in 2012. Oconee County reports no highway fatalities so far in 2013, compared to two in 2012 at this same time.  Pickens County has experienced four deaths in 2013 compared to three in 2012.  Anderson County lists one highway fatality in 2013 and seven in 2012. Of the 40 motor vehicle occupants who have died statewide in 2013, 26 were not wearing seat belts.  Through midnight February 10, 11 pedestrians, 6 motorcyclists and 1 bicyclist have died on state roads and highways.  These numbers are preliminary and are based on fatal collisions compiled by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety as of midnight February 10, 2013.
