Three Volunteer Workdays this Week at Abernathy Park

The City of Clemson seeks volunteers for three community build days at Abernathy Park, tells Mayor JC Cook. “The city has designated Thursday, Oct. 25, from 8am to 12:30pm and 1-5pm as well as Friday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Oct. 27, from 8am to 12:30pm. Due to the rebuild effort, Abernathy Park will be closed during these dates. Positions are available for a variety of skill levels and abilities. Commemorative t-shirts are still available for first time volunteers. Snacks and beverages will be provided to all shifts, and lunch will be provided for those working the Thursday and Friday shifts. No lunch will be provided on Saturday shift. Volunteers are asked to arrive a few minutes before the start of the shift in order to allow time for check-in. Afternoon volunteers are asked to arrive at 12:30pm if they would like to eat lunch. Parking will be available at and around Abernathy Park. Signs will indicate acceptable parking locations. Volunteers must be 16-years-old or older. Volunteers under 18-years-old will not be able to operate the saw. All volunteers (or a parent or guardian for those under 18) are required to read and sign a release form before beginning their shift. Those wishing to work on the same crew should sign up for the same crew and are encouraged to sign up at the same time. All safety equipment and tools will be provided. You must wear closed toed shoes (work boots if possible) and are strongly encouraged to wear long pants and long sleeves.” For more information, visit www.cityofclemson.org.
