Thunderstorms cause Another Outage

Just as crews with Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative were completing the restoration of power following Sunday night’s strong thunderstorms, a second storm system moved in and caused more outages. This second storm front made its way across the westernmost portion of the cooperative’s service area producing some major problems. At the peak of the outage, 3,683 Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative members were without service. Crews immediately began work in the field on power restoration. As of 10:30pm Monday, Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative had 1,333 members without power. The by-county breakdown is Oconee County with 1,130; Pickens County with 145; Anderson County with 49; Greenville County with 9; and Spartanburg County with 1. Crews worked to clear up as many outages as possible before they were relieved by fresh crews this morning.
