Today is Columbus Day

Today is Columbus Day, which is observed in the United States each year on the second Monday in October. The day signifies Christopher Columbus’ arrival to America on Oct. 12, 1492. In 1937, Columbus Day became a federal holiday in the United States. To celebrate the day, all Sumter National Forest offices and ranger stations are closed and will resume regular business hours Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 8am to 4:30pm.
