Tornado Aftermath: One Month Later

One month after an EF-3 tornado swept through the Golden Corner and claimed a life, the Oconee County assessor’s office has released numbers that reveal $11 million in residential damages and over 1,100 properties affected in some way. 92 homes were destroyed and 66 homes sustained major damage, while close to 500 homes had minor to moderate damages. Another nearly 500 residences were impacted with downed trees and the like. As debris clean up progresses, Seneca’s city officials said they are pleased with the recovery efforts so far, and added that those efforts are ahead of where they thought they would be at this time a month ago.
