Tractor Trailers advised about Seneca Intersection

Truck drivers traveling through the City of Seneca cannot rely solely on GPS to navigate around town. Signs warn tractor-trailer drivers about the area where Frontage Road enters Highway 28; however, Seneca Police Chief John Covington says several incidents have been reported recently where trucks get hung up at the crossing. “The truck situation does occur rather often at that location. We have found that the vast majority of the time it involves truckers that are not familiar with the area and usually from out-of-state just following their GPS navigation that always picks that route as it is the closest and they don’t pay attention to the “advisory” sign there. Even though this event could be prevented by them utilizing a little more common sense and greater awareness of their surroundings, it is not a chargeable traffic offense; therefore no fee or fine can be assessed.” A tractor trailer truck was hung up at the intersection early Wednesday morning.
