Train Accident near Seneca

At 10:40am this morning, Oct. 25, the Oconee County 911 Center received multiple calls regarding a vehicle accident involving a train and an 18-wheel truck. Initial fire crews found the accident at the intersection of Shiloh Road and Wells Highway near Seneca. Oconee County Fire Chief Charlie King said, “It appeared that the truck was stopped at the intersection with the trailer remaining across the track. A Norfolk Southern train attempted to stop but did make contact with the trailer, rolling it on its side. There are no injuries and no release of hazardous materials. The truck was transporting materials used to make cement.” Motorists are being detoured around the intersection of Wells Highway and Shiloh Road.
