Tree Limb blamed for Power Outage in Walhalla

Nearly 2,000 customers of Duke Energy were without power for an hour and a half Thursday near Walhalla. Oconee County government offices as well as three schools lost electrical service in the Walhalla area. Crews with Duke Energy restored powered to the area around 1:40pm. The outage was blamed on a transformer fire that started when a tree limb fell on a power line in the vicinity of Playground Road.
