Tubers rescued on Chattooga River

A rescue operation is underway this morning in Mountain Rest, tells Oconee County Emergency Services Deputy Chief of Emergency Management and Special Operations Scott Krein. “We are presently working on extricating a person that was overdue. We had a party of seven, two adults and five children, that were on the river tubing and one was injured late yesterday afternoon and they actually spent the night in the area. Presently we are working on getting crews in to actually extricate the person.” Sunday evening, crews conducted a search for the tubers in the Earles Ford section of the Wild and Scenic Chattooga River. Operations began this morning on removing the injured person from the remote area.
