Tuesday Morning Shooting At Apartment Complex In Walhalla Ruled Self Defense

The Walhalla Police Department has completed their investigation into a shooting incident and homicide that occurred Tuesday morning at the Country Ridge Apartments and based on evidence gathered during the investigation, which included an autopsy, and after presenting that evidence in consultation with the 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, Walhalla Police Chief Sean Brinson announced yesterday that the shooting of 31 year old Angel Rodriguez, Jr. by 27 year old Ezequiel Rodriguez was in self defense and therefore, no charges will be filed. 

According to Chief Brinson, officers were dispatched at 10:27am Tuesday in regards to reports of a disturbance. Upon arriving on the scene, officers made contact with Ezequiel Rodriguez and discovered another male, Angel Rodriguez, Jr., lying on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds. Rodriguez, Jr. appeared to be unconscious as well. Ezequiel Rodriguez was detained and medical personnel rendered aid to the Rodriguez, Jr., who was transported to Prisma Health – Oconee Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to Greenville. 

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis announced yesterday that Rodriguez, Jr. died in the intensive care unit at Prisma Health – Greenville Memorial Hospital at 12:10am Wednesday from gunshot injuries. The manner of death, once again, has been classified as a homicide.
