Twelve Bomb Threats received in 48 Hours

Authorities are actively searching for suspects wanted in connection to a string of bomb threats in Oconee County.  Two more threats were reported Tuesday night, bringing the total to 12 this week.  Local law enforcement was informed about a bomb threat made around 9pm to the BASF plant on Engelhard Drive in Seneca.  The plant was evacuated and deputies with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office were called in to search the facility.  During that search, a second bomb threat was made to the plant.  Most of the 55 employees on shift were sent home, while a crew of 15 worked through the night.  This was the latest in a string of bomb threats in Oconee County over the last two days.  The bomb threats started Monday morning with a call to Seneca High School claiming a bomb was on campus.  Students and facility were evacuated for about an hour as officers searched the grounds with a K-9 unit.  Bomb threats have also been received at Community First Bank, Oconee Medical Center, McDonald’s, TD Bank, Keowee Elementary School and Ingles in Seneca.
