TWO ARRESTED AT THE END OF POLICE CHASE

Two men with Anderson addresses were the pair arrested yesterday after a highway 11 chase thru Oconee County that ended when their white Dodge pulling a trailer rammed thru a gate at exit 1, I-85. Kenneth Robert Clark Jr. was identified as the driver; Justin Eric Callaham, the passenger. They fled on foot, but were captured. Oconee Sheriff’s Office gave this account of the chase: “Deputies learned that a stolen skid steer was recovered by the property owner in North Carolina earlier (Monday) morning before the golf cart was stolen. Upon further investigation, deputies learned that the trailer being pulled by the vehicle had been reported stolen from Seneca while the truck was reported stolen from Transylvania County (NC)….” From North Carolina into South Carolina, Oconee deputies picked up the chase on the Whitewater Falls Road (SC 130) with the chase reaching n. highway 11 and turning south on 11. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the chase reached speeds of 65 miles an hour. 101.7/WGOG NEWS spoke with one resident of the South Union area alarmed by the speed and the number of fast-moving squad cars, but Sheriff Crenshaw says what happened is a reminder to everyone to download the free Pursuit Alert app. For information about the app, go to www.pursuitalert.com.
