Two Construction Workers Killed In Structure Collapse Yesterday In Sunset

(Seneca, SC)———-The Pickens County Coroner’s Office has released the names of two individuals who were killed yesterday in a structure collapse in the Sunset area. 

Coroner Kandy Kelley has identified the deceased as 22 year old Domingo Diego Nicolas of Greenville and 42 year old Sabino Juarez Lopez of Greenville. According to the Coroner’s Office, the construction site accident occurred around 2pm. 

The Coroner’s office says that the deceased were pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Coroner, the deceased were putting up walls on a new construction house and were under the walls that fell on top of them. 

Pickens County Emergency Management said in a release that when emergency units arrived on scene, they observed a multi-story residence under construction which had partially collapsed. 

There were two additional construction workers who were injured at the site and transported to local hospitals for treatment. 

According to Pickens County Emergency Management, crews responding to the scene encountered several downed trees and live power lines down across the roadway due to a thunderstorm with high winds and lightning. The structure collapse occurred during this strom, according to Emergency Management. 

The incident remains under investigation and autopsies are scheduled for the deceased today.
