Two file to be Next Mayor of Salem

Two candidates have entered the race to the be the next mayor in the Town of Salem. A Special Election is planned for Oct. 16, to fill the unexpired term of the late Mayor Diane Head, who past away this summer. So far, council members Lynn Towe and Kevin Talley have filed their candidacy paperwork with the Oconee County Voter Registration and Elections Office. Interested Salem residents have a few more days to file, as the deadline is noon on Aug. 27.
