Two Seneca Residents arrested in Fatal Hit and Run

At the request of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Seneca Creek Road and apprehended a Seneca man for the Saturday evening fatal hit and run accident on Wells Highway at Owens Road. Deputies from the Criminal Investigations Division, the Narcotics Unit, the P.A.C.E. Team, the Special Operations Division, the SWAT Team, and the Uniform Patrol Division located the suspect, 19-year-old John Melvin Miller, Jr. at the Seneca Creek Road location. Miller, Jr. fled from deputies on foot but was apprehended a short time later without incident. Miller, Jr. was then turned over to the custody of the South Carolina Highway Patrol. In addition, 35-year-old Jima Leigh Schuch of Seneca was arrested on a charge of filing a false police report. She was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center and released the same day on a $2,500 personal recognizance bond.
