U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham Supports President Trump’s Decision To Recognize Golan Heights As Part of Israel

(Seneca, SC)——————-U.S. Senator and Seneca native Lindsey Graham issued a statement yesterday supporting the decision by President Trump to recognize the Golan Heights as part of the state of Israel. Graham said in his statement that “To return the Golan Heights to Syria would be to reward aggression and put the Jewish State at perpetual risk.”

Graham said he will be meeting with the President this weekend. Graham said the border of Syria and Israel is a strategic outpost for Israel and that Hezbollah has dismembered Syria along with Iran and Russia and there is no one for Israel to give the Golan Heights back to. The Golan Heights has been under Israeli control since 1973, according to Graham and Graham says “it would be suicide” for Israel to try to return the Heights back to anyone in Syria since there is no one in Syria to return the Golan Heights to. Last week, Graham was in Israel and went to the Golan Heights with the the Prime Minister of Israel to discuss the strategic importance of the Heights.

Graham said in his statement that the Senate leadership should take up legislation put forth by Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz that recognizes the Golan Heights as part of Israel.
