UNANSWERED QUESTIONS FOR PIONEER RURAL WATER

January 8, 2019 Dick Mangrum
The project to build Pioneer Rural Water’s 2.5 MGD treatment plant is close to the finish line, but the water district’s outside consultant says he can’t say exactly when it will be finished and when it will produce water for the first time. Complicating the situation, according to Design South’s Donald Phillips, is the federal government shutdown. That shutdown is delaying Pioneer from paying the contractor, from draws from the USDA loan. With various components of the project in the completion stages ranging from 85% to 97%, Pioneer has paid contractor more than $14 million dollars.
