Unemployment Rate dips in February

Positive news to report on employment at the local, state and national levels. The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce reports that Oconee County’s jobless rate fell to 9% in February from January’s 9.5% mark.  Some 2,851 people in the county’s labor force of 31,646 are currently looking for work.  Anderson County’s unemployment rate dipped to 7.9% in February from 8.5% in January. Pickens County’s jobless rate fell from 7.7 in January to 7% in February. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in South Carolina decreased to 8.6% in February from January’s rate of 8.7%.  Nationally, the unemployment rate fell from 7.9% in January to 7.7% in February.
