Unemployment Rate drops Again

New jobless figures from the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce show drops at the local, state and national levels.  Oconee County’s unemployment rate for March was 7.9%, down from February’s rate of 9%.  Anderson County’s jobless figure fell from 7.8% in February to 7.3% in March.  Pickens County listed unemployment at 6.7% in March compared to February’s 7% mark.  South Carolina’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 8.4% in March from February’s rate of 8.6%. The number of unemployed people in the Palmetto State totaled 182,978, which is the lowest level since October of 2008. Nationally, the unemployment rate fell from 7.7% in February to 7.6% in March.
