United Way Of Oconee County Holds Kick-Off Empower Oconee Event Last Friday

(Seneca, SC)————————————–The United Way of Oconee County held a kick-off Empower Oconee Event last Friday at the Shaver Recreation Complex in Seneca. 

Oconee County has been selected as one of three counties in South Carolina to use the Empower Action Model developed by Children’s Trust of South Carolina in partnership with that organization. 

Lashauna Harrison from the United Way of Oconee County said that Oconee County will be given a grant in the amount of $50,000 over the next 12 to 18 months to develop a program to address child abuse and neglect prevention programs in Oconee County through Adverse Child Experiences and improve overall child well being in the county. Heath’s Haven will be the administrator’s of the project. 

Lashauna says that they will be working with others in the community and a coalition to develop a project or program which will be announced at a later date.
