Upstate Man arrested on Child Pornography Charges

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of 47-year-old Keith Gary Butt of Fountain Inn on seven charges connected to the exploitation of a minor. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office made the arrest. Investigators with the Attorney General’s Office, also a member of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted with this investigation. Investigators received a Cyber Tipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) which led them to Butt. Investigators state Butt distributed and possessed files of child pornography. Butt was arrested on Oct. 1, 2018. He is charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree, a felony punishable by up to ten years imprisonment; and six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree, a felony punishable by up to ten years imprisonment on each count. The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office. Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
