Upstate Sex Offender sentenced for New Crimes

Attorney General Alan Wilson announces that Danny Wayne Long pleaded guilty to one count of criminal solicitation of a minor and one count of dissemination of obscene material to a person under 18-years of age in Greenville County this week in front of Judge Letitia Verdin. In July of 2015, Investigator Michael Rainey with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Boone, North Carolina Police Department that Danny Wayne Long, a registered sex offender, was posting ads on Craigslist in search of young females for sex. Investigator Rainey created an undercover persona of a 14-year-old girl and made contact with Long, who subsequently sent a sexually explicit image to the persona and solicited her for sex on several occasions. On July 14, 2015, Long traveled to the Burger King in Travelers Rest to meet the 14-year-old persona for a sexual encounter. Upon arrival he was arrested and taken into custody. Long was sentenced to six years in prison.
