Upstate Sheriffs’ Offices Participate in Special Olympics Torch Run

This week, officers from both the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office participated in the Upstate Legs Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics. Pickens County officers carried the torch along Highway 8 towards Easley, while members of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, including their SWAT team, transported the “Flame of Hope” down Clemson Blvd.
These efforts represented both sheriff’s offices’ contribution to escorting the torch towards Columbia for the Special Olympics State Summer Games, which are scheduled to begin on Saturday. Both agencies conveyed their honor in supporting the Special Olympics athletes and extended their best wishes for the weekend’s competitions, with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office highlighting their fundraising efforts for the 30,000 athletes in South Carolina.
