Upstate South Carolina Braces for Tropical Storm Helene’s Onslaught

As Tropical Storm Helene rapidly intensifies in the Caribbean, Upstate South Carolina is preparing for a significant impact. The storm is expected to bring damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and the potential for widespread flooding. Forecasters predict wind gusts exceeding 50 mph across most of the state, with some areas potentially experiencing gusts of 60-70 mph.

The heavy rainfall, estimated to be between 4-8 inches over 12-18 hours, combined with additional rain from a cold front, poses a significant flooding threat. This could lead to flash flooding, moderate to major river flooding, and coastal flooding.

Isolated tornadoes are also a concern, with a risk extending across most of the state. Residents are advised to stay informed, have emergency plans in place, and be prepared for potential power outages and disruptions.
