Upstate South Carolina Municipal Elections and Key Dates

On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, voters in Oconee, Pickens, and Anderson counties will participate in various municipal general and special elections, with specific candidate filing periods for each. In Oconee County, general elections are scheduled for the towns of West Union, Salem, and the cities of Seneca, Westminster, and Walhalla, all with a filing period from August 4 to August 15. A special election for the West Union Town Council had a filing period of June 27 to July 7, although no one registered to run.

Pickens County will hold general elections for the towns of Central, Norris, and Six Mile, as well as the cities of Easley, Liberty, and Pickens, all with a filing period of July 21 to August 1. Additionally, the City of Liberty has a special election with a filing period from August 1 to August 11.

Anderson County will see general elections in the cities of Easley and Belton, and the towns of Honea Path, Pelzer, West Pelzer, Pendleton, and Iva, with varying filing periods from late July through mid-August.

To participate in these elections, residents must be registered to vote by Sunday, October 5, with in-person registration ending Friday, October 3, and mailed applications requiring a postmark by Monday, October 6. Voters can choose to vote early from October 20 to October 31, absentee by mail if qualified, or in person on Election Day, November 4, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., remembering to bring a Photo ID.
