Upstate under Flash Flood Warning

Rain remains in the forecast for the Upstate and as it continues to fall in areas already, heavily saturated, flash flooding is a likely possibility. The National Weather Service has issued A Flash Flood Watch for our area through late tonight. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Authorities remind everyone not to attempt to cross swiftly flowing waters, or waters of unknown depth.  On Wednesday, the South Carolina DOT reported that a bridge on S-160 over Six Mile Creek in Pickens County had to be closed after being damaged.  Officials say the deck of the bridge dropped several feet when debris lodged into a support piling during high water levels. Weather observers across the Upstate have reported large amounts of rain, with spots in Oconee, Pickens and Anderson counties all reporting more than 50 inches of rain this year.
