Voluntary Water Conservation recommended by Keowee-Toxaway Group

Voluntary water conservation is recommended by water users across the Keowee-Toxaway River Basin. The Keowee-Toxaway Drought Management Advisory Group announces that due to months of reduced rainfall and hot temperatures, the basin has entered Stage 1 drought. The U.S. Corps of Engineers recently declared Level 1 of their drought plan for downstream federal projects as well. Lake Keowee and Lake Jocassee residents who withdraw water for irrigation purposes are asked to voluntarily limit their withdrawals to Tuesdays and Saturdays. The Keowee-Toxaway Drought Management Advisory Group regularly reviews the drought status and recommends coordinated response efforts. The group consists of representatives from large water users and federal and state resource agencies.
