Volunteers Are Magical Event at the OCPL

The Oconee County Public Library (OCPL) held a celebration for library volunteers on Thursday, May 2. Entitled “Volunteers are Magical,” it had a Disney theme, and honored all the people who have volunteered their time so generously over the last year. Two annual awards are given out at the celebration for Volunteer of the Year; the Lucile Bellotte Moore Award, given annually to a member of the Friends of the Library, and the Sarah Mills Norton Award, named for a founder of the Walhalla Main Library. This year’s Lucile Bellotte Moore Award went to Emily Hitchcock (pictured, left to right—Lynda Alexander, wife of Senator Thomas Alexander; Emily Hitchcock; and Nancy Woods, Vice President of the OCPL Friends of the Library) and the Sarah Mills Norton Award was presented to Ellen Plumpe (pictured, left to right—Lynda Alexander; Ellen Plumpe; Quientell Walker, Walhalla Branch Manager).
