Walhalla City Council Holds Special Meeting on Police Chief Vacancy
Walhalla City Council is holding a special called meeting this afternoon in the council chambers at 206 N. Church St. to discuss the city’s vacant police chief position in executive session. Former Chief Tim Rice retired in February, after which Capt. Austin Watson assumed the role on an interim basis while the search for a permanent replacement continues. The next police chief will be hired by council, with day-to-day supervision handled by City Administrator Celia Myers. Several Walhalla City Council committee meetings were also scheduled throughout the day.
