Walhalla Council turns down Concert Funding

A request from the Walhalla Civic Auditorium to help fund two major concert venues was turned down by the Walhalla City Council at their monthly meeting Tuesday night.  The Auditorium sought $37,500 from Council to sponsor concerts by Lorrie Morgan and Ronnie Milsap. Walhalla Mayor Danny Edwards said the City did not have the money to meet the request.  According to the Walhalla Civic Auditorium, roughly 40% of its audience comes from outside the Oconee County area.  The Walhalla Civic Auditorium hosts 50 events each year ranging from bands to plays.  The Lorrie Morgan and Ronnie Milsap concerts were to commemorate the Auditorium’s 10th anniversary as a concert venue.
