Walhalla Man found dead in home

A man discovered by Walhalla Police Officers during a welfare check at his home on June 18th, died early Wednesday morning.  Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis reports that 72-year-old Curtis Howard Orr of 608 West South Broad Street in Walhalla, died at 3am Wednesday morning at Oconee Medical Center.   A son and daughter-in-law have been charged with neglect as the Walhalla Police Department continues their investigation into the case.  An autopsy was performed at AnMed Medical Center late Wednesday morning by forensic pathologist, Dr. Brett Woodard, who determined Orr died from a coronary event described as “ischemic cardiomyopathy due to coronary artery disease”.  The autopsy also demonstrated signs of malnutrition; pneumonia; COPD; and cerebral atrophy observed in individuals who are diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.  Addis said Orr’s manner of death is classified as natural.
