Walhalla Man Sentenced in Connection with January 6th DC Protest

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Columbia announced that Thomas Casselman, a 30-year-old man from Walhalla, was recently sentenced for assaulting a law enforcement officer during the January 6, 2021, protest at the U.S. Capitol. Casselman pleaded guilty on March 21, 2024, to a felony count of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers. Casselman was taken into custody on March 28, 2023, and subsequently sentenced to 40 months in prison, 36 months of supervised release, and ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution.
