WALHALLA STUDENTS ARE PLAYERS IN ENVIRONMENTAL EFFORTS

As many as 22 students at Walhalla High School will soon likely attain certification to be official water quality testers of lakes, streams and creeks. Making this possible is a partnership with the Friends of Lake Keowee (“FOLKS”>and a Walhalla High class taught by science teacher Amanda Gladys. “FOLKS” recently made a $1 thousand donation to the class to refurbish water test kits and buy additional testing equipment. Gladys has designed a class called “Green Steps.” Her class has targeted Williams Creek, a creek that runs to the side of the high school. Mallory Dailey of Clemson 4-H Extension will administer the curriculum for the Adopt a Stream chemical and bacterial curriculum.
