Walhalla Traffic Death

An 82-year-old Mountain Rest man died Wednesday afternoon in the emergency department at Oconee Medical Center approximately 45 minutes after a single vehicle collision in Walhalla.  Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis identified the man as Will Kelley and he was pronounced dead at 4:13pm.  Kelley also had an Easley address where he owned a car lot.   The 911 system was activated at 3:33pm with the report of a single vehicle collision at the intersection of West Main Street and North Church Street in Walhalla.  Kelley appeared to be the unrestrained driver of a 2000 Mazda pickup truck, which was traveling west on Main Street when he struck an utility pole head on along the northwest corner at the intersection of North Church Street. Kelley sustained cardiac arrest at the scene. An autopsy will be ordered to assist with the death investigation to determine if a medical event occurred before the collision or if Kelley died from traumatic injuries.  Kelley reportedly had a past cardiac history.   The Walhalla Police Department continues to investigate this collision.
