Walhalla Utilities Committee Meeting Today
The Walhalla City Council’s Utilities Committee, chaired by Councilman Grant Keehn and joined by Councilmen Keith Pace and Josh Thomas, meets today to discuss a water leak request and upcoming projects. The city recently lost its utilities department head, Scott Parris, to Westminster, with Zane Thompson serving as interim director. Walhalla received a $10 million South Carolina Infrastructure Investment Program (SCIIP) grant for replacing aging waterlines, sewer lines, and other upgrades, along with $2.47 million from Oconee County’s American Rescue Plan Act funds for waterline upgrades on north S.C. Highway 11 and Poplar Springs. City administrator Celia Myers noted multiple infrastructure projects nearing completion or starting soon, including the Highway 11 watermain project and SCIIP projects.
